It’s words that no parents want to hear: “I’m so sorry… ” What follows next breaks your heart and alters your life forever.

Going through the loss of a pregnancy or baby is one of the absolute hardest things that a person can experience. There are no words to describe the grief and anguish that follows this kind of loss. It’s something that cannot be imagined.

There’s nothing that can take away the pain, but there are a few resources that might prove helpful as you begin your journey after loss.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Groups

  • Rachel’s Gift (offers online and some in-person support groups)
  • Hope Mommies (a Christian group that offers private Facebook support groups for loss parents)
  • SAILS Grief Support (SAILS stands for Stillbirth And Infant Loss Support)
  • MEND (Mommies Enduring Neonatal Death is a Christian organization that offers an online support group, as well as some local chapters)

  • Our Heaven Baby by Leah Vis (A book from a Christian perspective that explain loss of a baby)
  • Something Very Sad Happened by Bonnie Zucker
  • My Sibling Still by Megan Lacourrege
  • Emily Lost Someone She Loved by Kathleen Fucci (this is another Christian book that can help children through losing someone, such as their unborn or newborn sibling.)

Mementos or keepsakes

  • Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep offers free portrait sessions for those who are experiencing the loss of an infant.
  • Molly Bears was founded by a loss mom and creates memory bears that are the exact weight of your baby when they passed.
  • Made With Love Keepsakes offers jewelry made from breastmilk, locks of hair, umbilical cords, placenta, and more
  • Heartbeat Bears (these are a way to prepare a memento of your baby after receiving a terminal diagnosis during pregnancy or right after birth)

If you have any more resources to add, especially if you felt they helped you in your own journey of loss, please feel free to share them in the comments.
